Images of Mt Pleasant

So my parents live in a rural town in the middle of Utah called Mt Pleasant. It's about an hour and 15 minutes from P-town. It is a pleasant place and they do live near mountains. However, I would never want to call it my permanent residence for reasons I won't get in to here. But we do love to visit them. It's quiet. Peaceful. And although the neighboring peacocks are a nuisance it gives Tyler a chance to have some target practice.

We've been down there a few weekends in a row and I took some still shots of my parents yard. No editing here folks, just some nice outdoor country lighting.

The children like to collect these bones. I don't allow them in the house. Kind of gross. But I don't mind the budding anthropologists.

Many a bonfire burned here. And delicious s'mores. Remember this?

Isn't it about.....thyme? My parents don't have grass lawn but a thyme lawn. Smells nice.

My mom loves flowers, especially those that the deer won't eat.

The only good thing about having peacocks invade your property:

Summer fun 2009

I know, this happened like 6 months ago but I am trying to catch up. Part of the whole nesting thing.

5 weeks spent in Colorado (already posted about). 5 weeks spent in Mt. Pleasant. Swimming, Tyler fishing in Alaska, parades, visiting cousins in Richfield, playing in Grandpa's studio, morning sickness.

T-Day 2009

Mt. Pleasant, UT. The whole family.

Shooting clay pigeons, cookie turkeys, food, Boursin, Tyler's pumpkin pies, eating, late dinner (silly convection oven), scratches, sickness, way too much Martinelli's, loudness, laughing, late night discussions, home-grown potatoes and carrots, BYU/Utah game, New Moon, cousins, Euchre, Agricola and FUN!!!

The Drapers came down for the day too. These photos are compliments of Liz :)

Side note: the band aid is a battle wound from a battle of cousins. Olivia and Samuel normally get along the best, but sometimes temperaments get in the way, see how they are hugging down below like best friends.

Samuel loved hanging out with Thomas, my first cousin.

Samuel learned this sign from Wii Guitar Hero

Best friends again

Emu's

We're staying with my parents in Mt. Pleasant, UT for the next month. Mt P is a podunk town but it's quiet and peaceful.

As I mentioned earlier, my parents have peacocks that live next door. But there are also Emu's.

Pronounced Ee--meeew. They are quite unattractive creatures. Sort of like an pre-historic ostrich. 3 toes, fraggle rock like feathers, big orange eyes and a long neck. But the best part about these birds is that they sound like drums. They make this sound in their chest that sounds like beating a barrel drum. It's pretty cool.

Today I took the kids on a walk past the emu's. We also saw some baby peacocks and fed the horses. But the funniest part was when Samuel named one of the Emu's Parker, after his best friend in Utah. That made me laugh (maybe you too, Meliss). They do not resemble each other at all and I have no idea why he made the comparison. Lol. I guess Parker is just on his mind.

Here are the two together. I see no resemblance. Unless Parker can make a drum sound in his chest.
