Autumn

I love this time of year! And though it's been uncharacteristically warm and long, I am loving it still the same. I am loving the smells from my neighbors wood burning fires, the beauty of the fallen leaves on the wet pavement, the comfort foods and kids wearing rain boots! I am not yet ready for the snow.

Here is a critter, or type of critter that I may have to resign to spending the upcoming winter wit. These very large and hairy things creep me out every time I see one, which is daily:

The kids and I made some impromptu ghosts the other day out of trash bags, newspaper, string and marker. Here they are enjoying them as toys before I hung them up. Chasing each other and "oooooohing".



The reason I share this awkward photo is because it's the clearest one of Jocelyn's skirt. I made that. Yes, I love it. It was super easy and made from upcycled materials, namely one (and part of another) of my old shirts! How cool is that? Free, easy and fashionable. A little love for the Earth too. 2010 Family Photo Shoot

Taken in Mt Pleasant.

My dad took our family photos over Conference Weekend. Thanks Dad! The weather was perfectly clear. We bribed the kids with getting doughnuts afterward. They were good the whole time. However, "good" doesn't always mean smiling in each photo. Of course. But we did get some good shots! You only need one of each kind right? We both sort of took it easy today, ie, Tyler forgot and I did not wake him up with breakfast in bed or anything like that. Mainly because we celebrated (see post here) over a month ago.

Here are some nice little pics we took as part of a little family shoot a few weeks ago.

Love you babe, snookums, pumpkin pie, sweetie, honey, mon petit chou, and anything that is sickeningly sweetly silly and/or edible that people call each other. No offense if you are one of those peeps, it's just not us. ( Wendy, help me out, are those the right genders on those French words?)

July 2010 Part 2

Cake inspiration from here. Sadly this is the best photo I took of the inside. I made some changes. I used the Laura Ingalls Wilder wedding cake recipe and beat it by hand until it was about to fall off and then used a mixer. I was trying to get the full pioneer experience. I do NOT recommend the frosting recipe in this blogs recipe. As cool and nice and thick it looks it calls for waaaaay too much butter to do so. I used less even and it still felt like you were eating a stick of butter. But I do love the way the colors turned out, a little faded for Pioneer Day.

Wonderful time with family. Only bad thing: we got poured on the first night but the next day at the beach was fabulous! Cecily really took to the water and the other kids were like little fish too. There was good food and great memories.
