help?

Okay mom's, especially those w/daughters. I am having a debate w/my indecisive self about what baby doll to buy for Jocelyn's first birthday, which, unfortunately for her, falls on December 27th. I seemed to have blasted to the past because I found these adorable mini care bears and bought her one for Christmas. But I couldn't decide on which doll to buy. I was debating b/w a cabbage patch newborn (which consequently has reddish brown hair and green eyes...looks kind of like me, or Jocelyn) OR a "little me" doll, just your basic stuffed centered doll w/plastic arms and legs and closing eyes.
Which one would you suggest I get????????? the cabbage doll is bigger and soft bodied and cute and sentimental and squeezable. But the other doll is smaller and truer to life. Let me know what you think, please! Should I live in the past, vicariously through my little girl (which is not really a good thing), or should I get her a more practical (and cheaper) doll?

  1. I was going to say get her the cabbage patch doll because I absolutely LOVED mine when I was little (his name was Robby and somehow I lost him on a trip to the cabin once) but then I read that the other doll is cheaper. So now my vote is the cheaper doll. :)

  2. I'm going to say neither- get an all plastic baby so she can "take baths" - we had to throw out our soft body doll after she started smelling like a kitchen rag.

  3. Hey Hannah! We wanted to get Natalie a doll this year too and really struggled with what to get her as well (you wouldn't think it would be such an issue, but it really is). We found the cutest doll at Target. It's by FisherPrice and is called Little Mommy- Just like me! It's pretty cute! Just another idea!
Between your two, my vote would be the cheaper one. I found out the hard way to really pay attention to the ages on toys too. So, this one says 18 months+ Anyway, we looked at the newborn Cabbage Patch and for some reason decided against it. You're the mom though! Let me know what you decide!:)

  4. I would wait till 2 or 3 to get her a cabbage patch baby. She is little to really get into a babydoll. I have 2 daughters one who will be 17 next month and one that is 8. When they were around 4 or 5 they started really playing dolls. Also here is a tip on birthdays close to Christmas. Have a small celebration on the actual birthday and a party birthday on the half birthday which takes it away from any holiday and much better weather so you can do outside cook out parties.
