Quickies

The other night I was playing a childhood favorite game Cooties. And Samuel kept saying, "Oh, no! My head fell on the floor" every time he dropped it. I thought it was pretty funny. Actually, I wonder if that literally happens to me everyday. Jocelyn actually beat us both! Sammy usually beats me and this is the first time Joc has played. I think Samuel was a little jealous.

I may have gone back 11 generations on Tyler's grandpa's side. Clear back to the year1505! I am so excited! I love doing this genealogy!

Anyone have any recommendations for non-cheesy children's music? I like music by Elizabeth Mitchell I like her song, You are my Sunshine.

I think I am going to post my favorite kids shopping list on my deals blog. So look out for it.

I just joined goodreads. You should too! I've been putting my favorite (and not so favorite) children's books on their too.

Last night was a beast. I put Samuel down at 8pm as usual. He goes down seamlessly every night except last night. At about 9:30pm he came out, looking tired and like he'd been sleeping. He was probably sleep walking. But then he kept doing that until 11:30pm!!! Then he started crying which woke up Jocelyn, twice. So I was ready to go to bed so I just put him on the couch. And then at like 1:30 AM he woke us up again. So finally, I put him in his bedroom and he must have fallen asleep because I didn't see him until this morning. Ugh. I have no idea who abducted my child and replaced him w/this mean little boy. So needless to say, I am a grump this morning.

  2. I LOVE kid's music!! It's one of the best parts of being a mom. Some of my fav's: Justin Roberts, Jim Gill, Laurie Berkner, John Lithgow (yes, the actor) and of course, Raffi. I'm not sure if they are your style my kiddos and I love them!! If you ever come down to Provo I'll make you a CD. :)

  3. I really love Brite music. You can look it up online and download some of it. Brooklyn got a whole bunch for Christmas (thanks Grandma) and she is constantly asking me to turn it on.

  4. The Polaroids are cute, but I want to see more close ups. I remember the heads not staying on- they just aren't as good as when we had them.

  5. Very cool about the genealogy - that goes back pretty far! We have one side going back to the 1600's, but it's also nice to find out about living distant cousins.
Regarding the music, I knew exactly what you meant by "non-cheesy" - the John Lithgow is a good suggestion. I'd also invite you to check out the lullaby (for all ages) cd my brother and I put out, called Stardust (www.StardustLullaby.com) - we used authentic instruments so it wouldn't be "musically speaking down" to kids. It had to be good music first. It might also help with Samuel's sleepwalking. :-) No more grumpy mom! :-)
How very fun Tyler is a musician... and it says you're in the arts? Acting? My husband is an artist, so it's wonderful having an arts-filled home.
Enjoyed checking out some of your older posts!

  6. You have beautiful kids. That's so funny, Joc won. Is Sammy as competitive as Tyler? I think that's so fun you are playing games with them.

  8. My favorite kids music right now is Mrs. McPuppet (mrsmcpuppet.com). I especially like her "Blue Sky Sparklin Day" album. Her stuff is only available online--and you can listen to all the albums on her website.

  9. Carole King's "alligators all around" and Kate Rusby "awkward annie" and Emma likes Feist's song that's on the ipod commerical. 1234...something. The only problem is there is a part in the song where she counts 123456 9 and 10. Now I have a hard time getting Emma to say seven and eight. I was inspired by the cootes game and think I'll give it to Emma for Easter. I'm WAY impressed with the genealogy.

  10. The recipe blog is just one that my sister-in-law started up for all of us. If you want to post to it, I can have Jessica add you as an author on it. And about Todd and Elizabeth's blog, I think he has one he made on his mac but I don't know if they ever update it.
