I should have laughed

Well, I've always wanted those classic "oops" shots of my kids making a mess of themselves. But after I clean I hate to mess it up. It stresses me out. But tonight I asked for it. I came home today, an hour after I drove around the stupid Fort Union construction, upset that dinner was going to be so late and then I found this. Tyler was watching them. They both looked like Aboriganee children. But my house looked even worse. I had just spent all morning cleaning it and came home later than I wanted to expecting to have screaming, hungry children but instead found this. I couldn't really laugh. Tyler was and so I told him to grab the camera. But as I entered it got worse.....powdered sugar and granola all over the counters, floor, chairs and children. Safety pins, rubberbands scattered about, smashed oreo's on the living room floor and Samuel's potty toy cut open! He managed to reach it from the highest shelf. I knew I should have left it in the car (until he poops, which hasn't happened for days....grrrrr). After my laughter and filming, I broke down. I was so upset becuase I had just spent all this energy and time getting my house nearly spotless and then coming home to realize Tyler had obviously not been watching them at all and that I had wasted all that time!!!!!! He told me to leave, get out of the house so he could mend the problem. He washed the kids up, cleaned up the mess and finally fed them the cold rotisserie chicken I spent an hour buying. I went shopping for kids clothes that I needed to get.

It was okay fun! And then I indulged and bought my new favorite treat. A chocolate chip cookie dough chocolate frosty! Yum-o! Well, I hope that later on I'll look on this moment and laugh.

  1. Oh my gosh! I cannot believe that. I would have been soooo pissed, but at least Tyler cleaned it up. I still am a little worried to how Ben will do with Austin (and more I'm sure) as he get's older. I'm sure I'll have one of these incidents to come home to one day too.

  3. Oh my goodness! I'm glad you got pictures, because someday I'm sure you will laugh! I probably would have cried if this had happened right after I cleaned. At least Tyler cleaned it up. Jim probably would have no problem in leaving the mess for Tralee to play with the next time I left the house. :)

  6. I'm so proud of you for not absolutely murdering your beloved hubby and children. Seriously, I probably would have lost it! But ice cream does fix a lot of woes! You definitely deserved a treat!

I think I would have been pretty pissed if I had just cleaned the house and then came home and found it looking like that!

  13. Hi Hannah! Thanks for your comment on my blog. As for your question...

Since it's a short stay in the city, you'll probably not want to be too far away from the fun stuff, which means you'd probably want to stay in Manhattan. Of course, Manhattan = super expensive, especially in the touristy areas. Though I've never stayed in one myself, I've been told by those who have that hostels are the way to stay in NYC on the cheap. I don't know of any in particular, but I'm sure you could do a search online. A friend of mine, during her visit here last year, stayed in one and said it really wasn't that bad, plus it was near Times Square, so that was nice. Except for maybe Harlem, which, though it's up and coming these days, is still kind of touch and go, you'd probably be safe just about anywhere. If you really want to play it safe, though, stick to Midtown or Grammercy or Chelsea/the Garment District. The Upper East and Upper West Sides would also be nice, though they might be more pricey. Anyway, I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, just let me know. But most of all, have fun on your trip!
