Pre-school

Hello my Murray-ite friends!

I am thinking of enrolling Samuel in pre-school to start in January. I'd like a more liberal-arts based yet inexpensive school to enroll him in. Does anyone have any suggestions? Names, phone #'s, locations, etc?

Or....would anyone like to participate in Joy School w/me starting in January? I can probably only do the Jan-May curriculum as we will be moving at the end of next summer. It does cost $ to participate and you, as the mom, have to rotate teaching classes, which is 2x weekly. But it is still much cheaper than formal pre-school and you still get the kids out of the house! Anyway, if anyone is interested please let me know as I am strongly considering doing it for Samuel in January but I'd like to participate with other children and not just one-on-one w/Samuel.

Otherwise, any other suggestions for pre-schools are gladly accepted! Thanks!

  1. I did preschool for H at home 2 different years and am doing one for M at home this year. It's easy and you don't have to do Joy School. You just need 2 or 3 other friends to do it with you. We did it twice a week for 2 hours when they were almost 3 and twice a week for 3 hours when they were almost 4. We picked a theme and a letter a week and made up our own lessons. We rotated houses so we only ended up teaching once a month. It's a lot of fun and easy shmeasy. There are a lot of websites that are helpful like perpetualpreschool.com, starfall.com, first-schools.com, and another one I can't remember, something like dtlkkids.com. Just Google "free preschool" and you'll get all kinds of ideas.

  2. I still say that you should check out the Murray school district preschool. Here is a tidbit I copied from their website (www.murrayschools.org)

    Early Childhood Education Center
73 West 6100 South, Murray, UT; phone 801-264-7404
Preschool programs are designed to promote the development of the whole child and to offer a wide variety of experiences in the areas of social, emotional, academic and creative growth.

  3. Hi Hannah! I do a preschool co-op thing with a few girls in my ward. They have kids Parker and Carter's age and we rotate teaching and hosting. It is only once a week, but I love that is is so low key.
Our lesson or "themes" are modeled after joy school, but I didn't pay any money and we just came up with it on our own. We based them around activites or "field trips" we could take in the Denver metro area.
It works really well. I love it. Good luck getting something going!
