New blog

I started a blog for my Etsy shop. I wanted to keep it more business oriented and not bore all of you with what is going on in that part of my life. I will also start Recipe of the Week again and implement it into that blog as well as featuring other Etsyian artists.

So, please, check it out!! I included details of Samuel's cowboy party there and some recipes already! Add it to your blogroll, bloglines or google reader or become a "follower" and that would make me smile :)

Happy Birthday Sammy boy!

September 23, 2004 Samuel was born. My baby boy is 5 years old now!

What do I like about this little guy? He's tender hearted, imaginative, sweet to his little sister, a great sleeper, and very adaptable. Being the oldest, he's been through many moves, living arrangements, gone through many primary's, homes and cities. He was a perfect traveler while we lived in France.

He's a tall and skinny guy, like his maternal grandpa and his daddy. He loves to play the Wii, fishing with Papa, looking at the Thomas the tank engine advertisement everywhere he goes, becoming less of a picky eater and loves his family! I love you little guy!!

Here are some highlights from his birthday celebrations. You can see a full description and more photos on my shop blog here.

Here are most of the party attendants on their pony ride.

Samuel on the pony. I thought he would be scared. But after a round about the yard with me by his side, he did fine. He even gave the pony a little hug after.

A cute photo of Jocelyn :)

For record keeping sake, I'll mention the gifts he received. And, realistically, his favorite part of having a birthday. He was very nice and let all the others help him open his presents. He received some nice books, plastic animals, a lego car and his favorite, a battery operated Percy train.

From family he received more books :) a sheriff set, a stuffed lizard, and a vintage John Deere tractor. It was his daddy's growing up and is in mint condition. Thanks for holding onto it for all these years Papa S from Colorado!

200th post GIVEAWAY

CONGRATULATIONS!! Megan Hall, you've one this giveaway!!

I am back, as promised, with a giveaway. This last week was pretty hectic with Samuel starting pre-school, potty training Jocelyn and planning and hosting Samuel's 5th birthday party, which meant a lot of errand running and disciplining hyper Samuel as he anticipated these events, in addition to cleaning up the occasional pee-pee accident.

I am giving away my newest invention, a fabric birthday countdown chain.

It is still in "prototype" form and will not look exactly identical to this one, but it will be pretty close. Thank you for your comments earlier about this item. I decided on using 10 removable and re-usable loops in a darling birthday fabrics. Other holiday and occasion chains are being worked on and will be added to my shop sometime in the near future.

If you'd like to win this please enter in the following ways:

It's a....

GIRL!

I am excited about having another girl mostly for Jocelyn's sake. I think every girl needs a sister. I love having sisters (and luckily, my sister-in-law's). Both children are excited and so are we. We've only got girls names in mind anyway. So, this is good news! She seems to be healthy too. I suppose I don't have to worry about anything anymore. Because I was so sick this pregnancy I wondered if something may have been wrong, but we're all good!

This is post #200 too so to celebrate be checking back for a giveaway!

Last zoo visit

Our zoo passes expired at the end of August so we fit one last trip in. Daddy got to come with us too. We were able to see the baby animals born this summer, ride the train (photo actually pictured with my sister and nephew Warren from a previous trip),

and ride the carousel.

And sadly, we were adding to the pollution/inversion problem by driving up there. I think the California fires were burning so badly that it blew over to us and made our valley's hazy. The only cool thing about that was that it turned the sun pink!

Onto baby animals!

These two aren't really babies anymore.

This tiger cub melted my heart. He was so close to the glass and just sat lazily for the group of adoring paparazzi trying to get a good shot. Don't you just want to cuddle this little fuzz ball?

Opinion's please

Here I am again desiring your opinions.

I have something in mind to list in my shop (hopefully soon). It was a completely original idea until I did some Internet searching and realized I was not the first to come up with it. Darn. But that is pretty hard to do these days anyway, coming up with something completely unique and creative that is not inspired or based on someone else's creation. But that is a subject for another blog.

I am making a countdown chain for Samuel's birthday because the persistent asking, "when is my birthday?" or "How many days until my birthday?" is getting old. My question for you is, how many days do you typically make your paper chains? Christmas, for example, 12 seems to make sense, for the 12 days of Christmas. But what about Halloween? Birthday's? etc....
So, how many links long are your kid countdown chains?

Family Bonfire

I am going to start blogging about summer events. However, they will be totally out of order. Sooo...I'll date them!

June 29, 2009

We had a family Bonfire a few days before Rose got married. It was fun. I think I only ate half of one bcse I was so sick. My brother-in-law Grant melts his chocolate in the microwave and spreads it onto the cracker with the melted marshmallow. Pretty good idea, we thought. And then my cousin came over later in the summer and he made them with Lindt dark chocolate. Even better idea!! And then even later in the summer Tyler convinced his mom to make them with shortbread cookies (he got the idea from this awesome grilling book that we use).

So Tyler made his and set it down on a rock and told everyone to watch out and not sit on it. Naturally, one minute later, and characteristic of a toddler, Jocelyn sat on it. I forgot to stain stick the pants and consequently have a permanant chocolate stain. Luckily there were jammies
