Pioneer Day in Richfield, UT with Alex and Marci:
The people:
Making butter:
The cat....which has since run away.
The food:
Cake inspiration from here. Sadly this is the best photo I took of the inside. I made some changes. I used the Laura Ingalls Wilder wedding cake recipe and beat it by hand until it was about to fall off and then used a mixer. I was trying to get the full pioneer experience. I do NOT recommend the frosting recipe in this blogs recipe. As cool and nice and thick it looks it calls for waaaaay too much butter to do so. I used less even and it still felt like you were eating a stick of butter. But I do love the way the colors turned out, a little faded for Pioneer Day.
The decorations:
The entertainment:
Bear Lake with my dad's side of the family:
Wonderful time with family. Only bad thing: we got poured on the first night but the next day at the beach was fabulous! Cecily really took to the water and the other kids were like little fish too. There was good food and great memories.
Photos in complete random order bcse I am tired. Here are my sisters posts here and here for more photos:

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures these are! I haven't been blog reading much lately, but it is fun to look back on the summer as the leaves start to change. You must be so busy these days. Keep me posted!
