Chalk Art

Jennie, we're finally using the chalk you gave us! Thank you!

I've been busy busy this summer which has been great! We just returned from a trip to Colorado, just the kids and I, last week. And I still haven't posted about the 4th yet! But I wanted to share this post first because it's fast!

Summer Fun Idea #37

Chalk Fun

We had fun coloring outside today. And then we topped it with a little hopscotch. The kids suggested using a rock. I don't really the get the purpose of throwing the rock. Maybe you're supposed to stop at the number it lands on? And then what? I think they got the idea from Curious George.

Then I found their pet rocks and we used those...until Cecily started throwing them like balls and got lost in the shrubs.

Fun times!

  1. You throw the rock (called a tah--or taw?), then on the way up you hop over the space it landed on, and on the way back you stop in the space before the space the rock is in, bend over to pick up the rock, and then finish.

  2. Looks like fun! The teachers' supply store will have a real "Hoppy-Taw" which is a rubber saucer-type thing. To play the traditional rules, you try to throw the "Hoppy-Taw" onto each number consecutively, skipping over it on that turn.

It's the next kid's turn when it doesn't land where it's supposed to. :)
